Q: What is an online pharmacy?
A: An online pharmacy is an internet-based store that is similar to your local drugstore in that they can fill your prescriptions for medications.  However, an online pharmacy lets you do this from the comfort of your own home - privately and without embarrassment.  Online pharmacies came into business in 1998 when real world physicians began working with rural clients by telephone and the Internet.  Currently, two types of legitimate online pharmacies exist, those that require a existing prescription transfer before ordering online and those that provide online medical consultations with licensed physicians to issue prescriptions for a limited set of FDA approved medications. Pharmacies that offer online medical consultations are the most abundant online. These pharmacies typically sell a small selection of medications that are typically referred to as "embarrassment or lifestyle drugs". Even though a licensed doctor reviews your information and writes the actual prescription when using this type of online pharmacy, you should still see a doctor regularly for a routine checkup and physical evaluation.  You should also avoid any online pharmacy that offers to fill your order for a prescription medication without a prescription.

Q: Can I purchase my prescription medications without a prescription?
A: No.  Any site that sells prescription medications should require a prescription to do so and should not complete the sale without the proper authorization. Some online pharmacies require a prescription transfer and may accept a faxed prescription directly from you or the prescribing doctor.  Other online pharmacies may offer an online medical consultation with a licensed physician for certain medications to determine if a prescription can be written.  As every online pharmacy maintains their own policies, we suggest that you read and understand the policy regarding prescription requirements of the pharmacy you wish to purchase from prior to ordering.  Again, you should avoid any online pharmacy that offers to fill your order for a prescription medication without a prescription.

Q: Is a physical exam needed to purchase prescription medications?
A: If you have had a physical exam recently and consider yourself healthy, you do not necessarily require another physical exam in order for you to obtain some prescription medications. Thousands of psychiatrists and general practitioners throughout the US are prescribing certain medications after only reviewing the patientís medical history, without a physical exam. The medical factors that would prohibit a physician from prescribing these medications are discoverable through a review of the patient's medical history. There is no reason to suggest that an in-person review of this history is any more relevant than an online consultation. However, even though a licensed physician reviews your information with an online consultation, you should still see a doctor regularly for a routine checkup and physical evaluation.

Q: What is an online consultation and how does it work?
A: Online consultations are a new concept in health care that utilize the Internet to improve patient access to physician care. The patient does not receive a traditional physical exam by the physician, but rather completes an online questionnaire and communicates with the physician using a secure online communication tool. Although online consultations will never take the place of traditional medicine, they do provide a means for patients to receive treatment for a limited number of conditions that, in certain circumstances, may not require a physical exam.

Q: Is it legal to receive prescriptions for medications online?
A: Yes, in all States except Nevada.  If you are a Nevada resident, you must see a doctor for a physical examination to obtain a prescription.  In other cases, the prescription that is written for your medication after the medical review of your online consultation is approved comes from a licensed U.S. physician and is then filled by a licensed U.S. pharmacy. This practice is in accordance with FDA regulations and perfectly legal.  In developing this new Internet medium for the delivery of health care services, most organization are committed to meeting and exceeding current regulations. The pharmacies listed on this site only utilize board-certified physicians that are licensed to practice in the US. These pharmacies employ licensed US pharmacists to provide you with the highest standards of pharmaceutical care. These pharmacies obtain medications from legitimate pharmaceutical wholesalers, so you can rest assured you are receiving the same medication as you would at your neighborhood pharmacy.

Q: Is it safe to purchase prescription medications from overseas companies?
A: Because the FDA is unable to guarantee the origin and the quality of the medications produced outside the US, they do not recommend ordering medications online from overseas pharmacies.  We do not work with, nor can we recommend overseas pharmacies.

Q: How does an online order process typically work?
A: After you select the medication you want and compare prices to select the pharmacy you want to purchase from, you will be directed to the selected pharmacy's secure ordering site by clicking on an order now button.  You will likely fill out and submit an online consultation form for medical review by one of their licensed U.S. physicians.  The physician will determine if you are eligible to benefit from the medication you have chosen. If you are eligible, the physician will then write a prescription for that medication and forward it to the licensed U.S. pharmacy to be filled. The pharmacy will then fill and ship your order, typically via FedEx NextDay Air, to your home in discreet packaging.  That's it!
